Last Container Consolidation & Early Bird Incentive

The Last Container Consolidation (LCC) System protects all riders from having to collect their motorbike a long way from where they need to be – or even worse, not being able to ship at all. The system works as follows:

• Shipments are subject to a ten-bike minimum. If the ten-bike minimum isn’t met for a Brisbane or Melbourne shipment, then the bikes with deposits paid last will be consolidated between depots such that the overall cost for domestic transport will be a minimum.  

• All bikes in the last container consolidation are required to contribute EQUALLY to the domestic transport of bikes between depots up to a maximum of AU$200 each – any difference leftover is covered by Own Bike Odyssey.

• The coordination of LCC provided by Own Bike Odyssey is TRANSPARENT and free of charge.

• Bikes bound for other domestic destinations can be used in the consolidation effort if it helps to minimise the overall domestic transport cost. These arrangements are dependent on benefiting the individual rider AND the last container riders. For example, Sydney bikes could be used to benefit everyone because they are on the good value East Coast trucking run. Perth bikes can also be handy because the arrangements they make can be made from either Brisbane or Melbourne.

• If there isn’t ten bikes overall then shipping is at the discretion of Own Bike Odyssey.

REMEMBER THIS WHOLE THING ONLY WORKS WITH FULL CONTAINER LOAD (FCL)!

If you are in the last container, you all need each other to ship in the first place. Nobody knows how the bike numbers are going to land across Australia – it’s just important that we have a system in place to manage it 😊   

EXAMPLES (costs shown are indicative):

• 12 bikes MEL, 11 bikes BNE
  NO LCC CHARGE to meet 10 bike minimum
  Ship 1xFCL MEL + 1xFCL BNE

• 15 bikes MEL, 17 bikes BNE, 2 bikes SYD preferred
  Send 3 x MEL bike + 2 x SYD bikes to consolidate with 5 x BNE bikes   
  Cost $2550 (3x$550 + 2x$450) / 10 riders = $200 per rider in last container consolidation + $550 Own Bike Odyssey 
  NO LCC CHARGE to 1st 12 x MEL bikes and 1st 12 x BNE bikes
  Ship 1xFCL MEL + 2xFCL BNE

  
  

• 3 bike MEL, 3 bikes BNE
  Even though ten-bike minimum is not met, Own Bike Odyssey would still make this shipment at a loss – but would require riders to pay full LCC
  Send 3 x bikes either direction BNE <-> MEL pending shipping line rates
  Cost $1650 (3x$550) / 6 riders = $275 per rider
  20ft FCL shipped from BNE or MEL

EARLY BIRD INCENTIVE is the earlier you pay your deposit the less likely you are to be in the last container. If you pay your deposit later then you are more likely to end up in the last container where the LCC Charge could apply if required – or even worse, we end up with neat containers earlier than expected and close off bookings pending another ten confirmed bikes.
