ROUTE SUGGESTIONS | RIDE WINDOW

MILAN to KATHMANDU | 3 - 8 months
Alps - Dolomites - Adriatic / Balkans - Turkey - Caucasus - Silk Road - Pamir - Tian Shan - Karakoram - Himalaya
- One of the greatest overlander routes - ride the Third Pole!
- Exit Europe via Turkey
- Common overlander route through Russia from Georgia to Kazakhstan to avoid the major conflicts
- Tyres & Service in Osh, Kyrgyzstan
- Tour company escort required through Xinjiang China to Pakistan via Khunjerab Pass / Karakoram Highway
- Wagah Border Crossing from Lahore Pakistan to Amritsar India
- Pending weather, remote passes Upper Himalaya India close some time from ~midSep. October can be brilliant but don't count on it for your exact days + routes … also getting cold.
- Nepal wet season Jun to Sep then Oct Nov just incredible!
- You can ride main trunk lines Nepal wet season but pack plenty of spare undies if you attempt remote hills in the wet on a loaded touring bike (it's really not a good idea)

WAGAH BORDER CROSSING CLOSED 01 MAY 2025. ALTERNATIVE IS CHINA TOUR FROM KYRGYZSTAN OR KAZAKHSTAN TO NEPAL OR LAOS.

OTHER ROUTES:
- Mongolia | cross from Kazakhstan via Altai, Russia. Then trans-China tour company required to Nepal or Laos.
- Caspian Ferry | Azerbaijan land borders remain closed to entry, however, you can transport your motorbike from Tbilisi to Baku and fly yourself. Then ferry to Aktau / Turkmenbashi. Nuisance route.

- Afghanistan | More and more overlanders travelling this way. Know what you're doing if you go this way

MILAN to KUALA LUMPUR | 6 - 9 months

- Myanmar not looking likely for years to come. Many overlanders air freight Kathmandu to Bangkok.
- Recommend tour company escort Nepal to Laos via Tibet ~17 day crossing (pay deposit 3 months lead time). Timing late October to early November. As long as you are organised and arrange for a group well in advance it is a far superior option to air freight. If you're not organised and end up with only 2-3 riders then it's expensive.
- Ride SE Asia.
- Milan entry riders will have CPD Carnets valid for one year from their container pack Australia (end of January). FCL shipment must exit Malaysia Customs before this time so that we don't have to extend carnets in Malaysia.
- LCL option also available anytime with crate included.

MILAN to DILI-DARWIN | 9+ months

- We don't arrange for this route's logistics.
- Contact ANL now CMA CGM Darwin office for shipping info Dili <-> Darwin
- Extend CPD Carnet in Malaysia if yours will expire before shipping from Dili to Darwin
- RORO option from Klang to Sarawak, Malaysia. Land border to Kalimantan, Indonesia. Ferry to Sumatra / Java then island hop ferries to West Timor. Land Border to East Timor. Ship Dili to Darwin.
- Other options from Klang to Sumatra, Indonesia e.g. Tanjung Balai. Little trade boat. Not for the precious.

PORT KLANG LCL (less than container load i.e. individual bikes NOT full container load)
- Port Klang is a unique link because we have a very good LCL service in place. Generally we discourage riders from going down the LCL path - things look alright at the outset until the onset of suffering, delay & additional cost. Our incredible services to other destinations are dependent on being FCL. We can't process LCL through those places in a timely + cost effective manner.
- However, we can offer reliable + good value LCL to/from Port Klang anytime!
- Keep in mind for shipping from AUS to Klang you will need to frame/crate your motorbike - but for shipping Klang to AUS we will arrange crating for you at our depot. All-inclusive cost (with crate) Klang to Brisbane/Sydney/Mebourne is AU$2,500.
