ONBOARDING PROCESS
Own Bike Odyssey (OBO) is a rider-focused service that does not accept payment until the onboarding process is complete. Please trust the process: we manage the planning and execution of the Service with the same level of care.
The Shipment Management Platform (SMP)
The SMP is specialised software used to coordinate each shipment, including Client Tasks, data capture, document uploads and communications. It provides a single point of truth: everything must match as you complete your Tasks. For example, the VIN and engine numbers entered from your Motorcycle Registration Certificate must match the photographs uploaded from your motorcycle.
1. Read the Shipment Information
Review the relevant shipment overview, including the process, timing and route. Read the payment information and consider the additional charges that may apply. Use the linked origin and destination depot information where available.
2. Register Shipment Interest
Use the Register Shipment Interest form on the Motorcycle Shipping page. Include your preliminary big-picture questions and briefly describe your intended route and timing. This helps OBO assess whether your plans align with the selected routes and seasonal shipment windows.
3. Access Your SMP and Read Your Tasks
For a live shipment, you will receive access to your Personal SMP Portal and Tasks Page. Read the Tasks Page, which clearly outlines what is required from you throughout the Service. You must also read the Terms and Conditions, which explain transparently how the Service works and what OBO requires from each Client.
4. Complete Your Profile
Complete your profile and the required data and document Tasks carefully. Note your detailed questions, concerns and anxieties. This is the time to get into the detail. Check that names, dates, passport details, Motorcycle Registration Certificate data, VIN, engine number and uploaded evidence all match.
5. OBO Review and Conversation
OBO reviews your registration, intended journey and questions. Completion of the earlier steps provides the foundation for a focused Google Meet or phone call about the details specific to you and your intended journey. A call is not compulsory when Steps 1 to 4 are complete and you are comfortable with everything.
6. Pay Your Deposit to Secure Your Space
Once onboarding is complete and OBO has confirmed your suitability for the shipment, pay the deposit to secure your space. OBO operates using Full Container Load (FCL) processes. When the container is full, the shipment closes.

Please appreciate that OBO ships full container loads (FCL) only. We do not ship less than container loads (LCL), offer air freight, or ship anywhere at any time. Our service operates on selected routes and is tailored specifically for motorcycle overlanders.
We receive a high volume of broader overlander enquiries and, as much as we would like to assist the wider motorcycle-overlanding community, we simply do not have the capacity and must remain focused on supporting OBO customers.
