Australia's biosecurity inspection requires every motorcycle to arrive free of dirt and organic material. The practical standard is not showroom condition; it is no dirt and no organic material. OBO's shipment rate includes the normal quarantine inspection, but it does not include cleaning, treatment, storage or reinspection costs if a motorcycle fails.

Who manages the inspection?

Australian Border Force manages border security and customs processing. The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) administers the Biosecurity Act 2015 and manages quarantine and biosecurity risks. OBO uses approved arrangements and partner inspection sites appropriate to the Australian depot.

Clean before delivery to the origin depot

Pay particular attention to radiator fins, wheels, tyres, mudguards, bash plates, suspension, the front sprocket area, under the seat, luggage mounts and every recess that can retain soil, seeds, insects or plant material. Remove all mud, grass, seeds, insects and other organic material. Cleaning facilities are available near relevant origin depots, and the motorcycle must be delivered clean and ready for shipment.

Customs and biosecurity issues

Each motorcycle is shipped under its own House Bill of Lading. This allows OBO and its agents to separate a motorcycle that requires additional customs or biosecurity action without holding up the full group. Any additional cleaning, treatment, handling, storage, inspection or related cost caused by that motorcycle is the customer's responsibility.

Spent ammunition attached to a motorcycle, animal remains, insects or grass seeds in radiator fins, mud in a bash plate, and organic material trapped around the sprocket carrier are not acceptable. Prepare the motorcycle properly and the Australian inspection process should be straightforward.
