OBO’s Australian depot network supports seasonal full-container motorcycle shipping from Melbourne and Brisbane, with Melbourne also serving as the current return gateway. Fremantle is being developed as a future origin for Western Australian riders.

Use Australia to:

• Ship your motorcycle from Melbourne or Brisbane to begin an overland journey.

• Return your motorcycle to Melbourne from an OBO gateway overseas.

• Combine compatible demand across Australian cities when this helps create a viable full container.

Locations

• Melbourne — AU-MEL: OBO’s primary Australian home-base depot. It supports exports and imports from metropolitan Melbourne, with access to Melbourne Airport and the Port of Melbourne. Exact address and appointments are supplied through the Shipment Portal.

• Brisbane — AU-BNE: Established export origin, with access to Brisbane Airport and the Port of Brisbane. Delivery and packing arrangements are confirmed for each shipment. Brisbane is not currently a routine return destination.

• Fremantle — AU-FRE: Developing Western Australian origin. The final depot and handover process are not yet confirmed. Do not deliver a motorcycle unless OBO opens a specific shipment and issues instructions.

Aligning demand across Australia

OBO aims to pack a full container at each Australian origin. If one location does not have enough compatible riders, OBO may consolidate the shipment through another origin — for example, by repositioning Brisbane motorcycles to Melbourne. Any domestic transfer arrangement, timing and cost are confirmed for that specific shipment.

Export and motorcycle handover

Melbourne and Brisbane can be used for approved outbound shipments.

• Complete your profile, documents and motorcycle photographs in the Shipment Portal.

• Ensure the registration, VIN, engine and identity details match across every record.

• Deliver the motorcycle clean, prepared and within the nominated delivery window.

• Current shipment terms normally include 14 days of secure storage before container packing. Exact included dates and any extension charge are stated in the Shipment Portal.

• OBO coordinates depot receiving, export Customs, container packing and the shipping-line booking.

Fremantle is used only when OBO opens and confirms a specific shipment.

Return shipments and motorcycle collection

All current OBO return shipments to Australia finish in Melbourne. Its operating pathway includes the Approved Arrangement required to receive and manage biosecurity-controlled cargo.

Before shipping to Australia

• Deliver the motorcycle cleaned and ready for Australian biosecurity inspection. Read Australia’s Biosecurity and Cleaning Your Motorcycle.

• Australian-registered motorcycles complete the Australian Motorcycle Reimportation Approval task in the Shipment Portal.

• Foreign-registered motorcycles follow a separate temporary-import pathway confirmed during onboarding.

Collection

• Collection begins only after border, biosecurity and depot release processes are complete.

• The collection appointment and any storage terms are confirmed for that shipment.

Brisbane and Fremantle are not currently routine OBO import destinations.

June–August 2027 working example

For the current Valparaíso to Melbourne return shipment:

• Container packing in Valparaíso: Friday 4 June 2027.

• Vessel departure: Thursday 10 June 2027.

• Melbourne ETA: Friday 16 July 2027.

• Motorcycles available in Melbourne: Friday 6 August 2027.

The schedule includes a 21-day destination processing and contingency buffer after vessel arrival. Final dates published for the individual shipment always take precedence.

Connections

Australia ⇄ Chile

Ride window: Four months, from the end of January to the end of May. Collect in Valparaíso, ride a South America loop and return the motorcycle to Melbourne.

Ride window: Seven months, from the end of January to the end of August, finishing with OBO’s Cartagena connection for export from Colombia.

Australia → Chile → USA

Ride window: Eight and a half months, from the end of January to mid-October, connecting with OBO’s October return shipment from Seattle.

Australia → Port Klang
